Its Sunday in christchurch and on our way to mount Hutt 2 hours drive. Its noon and everybody is hungry and as we are searching for a place to eat suddenly in front of the art gallery theres a farmers market with food!!. Marvelous seafood with live music and some stores selling fresh local produce. Interesting place.

I was in christchurch last year before the earthquake. It is a nice and peaceful city, I do hope they can rebuild the city and be cheerful as before.

Our nearest neighbour is a super clean sterile city of singapore. After a busy months in Kuala Lumpur and the fed up with all the dusty and rubbish around you, it might be good to have another view of city life like singapore. So here we are in singapore ( minus the new casino) visiting our relatives and friends. The common view is apartment and buildings and apartments and another buildings neatly arrange between a clean street.

In my country as any modern, developed country the hypermall is everywhere. The old grocery family owned store is not attractive anymore. This is the last store still standing in my village where I used to repair my bicycle 30 years ago.. I dont think it will still be standing there next year... damn TESCO, carrefour...

Nothing to do and the H1N1 virus seems to be everywhere and my youngest son was bored but instead of going to the shopping mall I decided to bring them to the national art gallery. The only building in Malaysia which is always quiet year round. The cafeteria serves nice food and I do like the traditional Malay pancakes (lempeng) from flour and coconut.

As promise another floating market scene. Damnersaduak market around 1 hour drive from Bangkok. A must visit place for tourist. I tought only bangkok suffers traffic jam but wait until you are here, the boat scretching with one another and mind your fingers..I saw a boat full of local fruits and DURIANS..local fruit found in South east asia only thorny surface but so good inside.

It took us 1 hour to visit the floating market and after spending 1 hour there we headed back to bangkok that took us 3 hours to reach the hotel. But the visit was good minus the overcrowded tourist , infact there are more tourist in the boat then the locals..so i did a quick sketch of a genuine local trader selling noodles to the shopkeepers along the river banks.

Ahhh.. bangkok again..traffic is terrible.. friendly people. big city. I always like to ride the traditional transportation wherever I go. In Bangkok it is called tuktuk..noisy, but fast I mean very fast..

they sure have cut the cost heavily.. The food is getting into a smaller container , but I do like the satay..The quality is much better quite tasty for Asian palate, my westerner passenger beside me do not seems to like the fried rice, but he took the satay quite fast..sorry buddy..

yesterday i visited my father back home in Batu Pahat Johor. our place is near the sea ( malacca straits) where fishing is one of the main income. I sat down under the tree near the jetty and began sketching the boats and people around it . It is a quite morning... I found out it is not easy to draw boats and water..

I like the telephone wire jumble up in the sky and its friendly people. Lots of the building reflecting a french colonial era but many have been torn down for the same reason...

two days ago (feb 19) one of our nation great artist passed away. Since my younger day I never missed to visit the national gallery every weekends just to see his paintings over and over again. Never had a chance to meet him and now he's in haven. Ibrahim or Ib once said:

I was looking into old building in KL and saw a nice big old wooden building at jalan tun HS lee suppose to be an office for badan warisan. However it 's sunday and closed. I hate it a big beutiful building like this should be open on sunday for tourist but they closed it. Is it too expensive to hire a guard and a clerk on sunday? In US or UK this would be a must visit building in the city but not here in Malas..ia... This building could be an old castle or an old storage building made of chengal hard wood which is a rare hard wood in the world..enjoy..
